Ball Joints and the Rubber Boot

Hello Guys,
I have a new Problem. I would press my new Ball Joints from CPP in my Lower controll arms and dont know if i press the Ball Joint with the Boot into the Controll Arm or put the Boot later over it ? Because the Boot fits perfect into the hole of the Controll arm and on the Boot is the text: Mount Inboard.
The second Problem is, that a have two different Ball Joints. I think the small one ist the right one. The Numbers at the bottom are the same. Please can you help me ?

Thanks a lot again

Greetings from Germany.

Nils

Re: Ball Joints and the Rubber Boot

[ball joint needs to be pressed on first. the boot just sits on it and is compressed when the spindle gets installed.

Not to high jack this thread, but have a question that fits this title. Have a '62 with all joints in good condition. But all the boots are shot. Can new boots be purchased and installed on the old joints?

Re: Ball Joints and the Rubber Boot

Boot goes on top of the arm, after the ball joint is pressed in.

You definitely have two different ball joints, regardless of what the numbers on the bottom say. The left one looks more like a '73-'87 version. I know you're in Germany so parts are much harder to get but I would look to get a replacement that is right, as I don't know how easy/quickly you'll get CPP to ship you another one. I would contact them though.
