Measuring for a steering U joint

Hey guys I have a 73-87 collapsable shaft that I am putting in my 63 Pick up...I know the original Shaft end would be a 3/4 smooth for the u joint ..but not sure how you exactly measure a DD end for sizing..the flats on the shaft I have are 5/8" in thickness but did not see any 5/8 ends on the DD joints... ....thank you in advance..

Re: Measuring for a steering U joint

DD shafts go by the diameter rather than across the flats. Sounds like you're working with a 1" DD shaft.
