Wheel Stud Question... please help

I have a McGaughy's brake kit I'm putting on my '60 C10. It's the kit for the 63-70. Came with the 7/16 studs and 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern. I need to change that out and go with 1/2 studs and the 5 x 5 bolt pattern.

I can't seem to find out what size knurl diameter I need for the 1/2 studs. I know I need 1/2-20 studs, but there are many knurl diameters. I measured the bolt hole and the closest I found to fit is a dormant with a .536 in knurl.

Does anyone know if these are the correct ones? I reached out to McGaughy's but they were not able to tell me the size studs they run in the 5 x 5 bolt pattern (other than 1/2").

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I took one of the studs with me to O'Rielly's and looked thru their stash till I found the right diameter.

Changing the studs to 1/2 inch will still leave you with a 4 3/4 bolt pattern. Only way to get a 5 inch is by redrilling the rotors. Then you can use whatever knurl size you want.

I've checked and the McGaughy's hub has both. The 7/16 holes are 5x4 3/4 and the 1/2 holes are 5x5.

I don't have any of the 1/2 studs to take with me to compare the size. Only the 7/16 that came with the hub.

Have you tried one 7/16" stud in a 1/2" stud hole? If it fits you'll know what knurl size you need.

7/16" stud's knurl diameter is too small for the 1/2" stud hole

Go shopping. Buy one that's close to your measurement. You'll likely need to experiment a bit.
Sometimes you need to spend 5 bucks to save a hundred.
