New Member With 1962 C10
Hey guys I'm a new member here. I'm Carlos. 19 years old. Live in Arizona. And I have a 1962 C10. The truck was given to me by my grandfather. He's had it sitting for a while and he knew I had been wanting it and he finally decided to give it to me. I've had it for maybe 3 months, so I'm still learning stuff about it but I have already replaced a couple parts since it has been sitting for a good while before it was given to me. The truck did have a standard transmission and a different engine but it was all swapped out. They put a 350 in it (idk from what- or even what year it is). Put in a automatic transmission. I'm also not sure which tranny. All I remember is that my grandpa told me the transmission was ??400 so maybe one of you guys can help me out. I dont much about engines and transmissions just enough to get me by but I'm always looking to learn. I want to know what should I change soon, what are better mods for CSB etc.. I want to change the radiatior soon since it has a small crack in it near the top. But idk where to get a good radiator that will keep my SBC at a good temp. I live in the sunniest city so the truck tends to get hot but as long as it has water in the radiator and overflow I'm golden. Thanks guys! looking forward to learning!

Re: New Member With 1962 C10
Welcome to the forums, good to see some more young guys on here, I am 16 and I'm building a 62 as well, lucky that you got yours given to you as they are starting to get pretty expensive to buy. check out my build thread and maybe you'll get some ideas as these 60-62 trucks are quite a bit different than the 63-66 trucks. If your grandpa said the transmission was a 400 he most likely meant a turbo 400 or th400, one of the strongest automatics ever built. Do you know what steering column is in your truck? If you have any other questions just ask, this forum is an amazing source of knowledge. One other thing I noticed is that the emblem on your drivers fender is from a '60. It would be wise to create a build thread and share your build plans and start documenting all that you get accomplished.

Welcome! I really like that seat. Know what it's from? Possibly from where the steering column came from?

Welcome.
Take care of that metal fan shroud. They're getting harder and harder to find.

steering column, at least the steering wheel appears to be from early to mid 90s caprice.

Re: New Member With 1962 C10
Hey guys. So I asked where the steering column was from and was told its from a Chevy Astro Van around late 80s i believe. Also the seat is the original one. It was probably just reupholstered. Thanks to everyone that welcomed me I really appreciate it. I need some help. Does anyone know a good source to get a good radiator for the 350? I want to change the whole radiator, hoses, thermostat, and maybe even a better looking overflow. If anyone can lead me to the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!
