McGaughys brake pads.

I've had a set of McGaughys aftermarket brakes for about 10 years. One of the calipers wasn't working well so I was going to bleed the brakes. The caliper was bad so I ordered a new one from the local Advance and got a new set of wearever Gold pads. No go. The loaded calipers only give 1 1/8 in of clearance but the rotor is 1 1/4 thick. Anyone have a part number? The caliper crossed (by the casting number as a 71. I'm assuming the rotor is a HD unit but when I was at the LAPS, I got a Millennial in the body of a 60 YO, so no help there. 20 min to explain what I was looking to repair and he still didn't have a clue.

Re: McGaughys brake pads.

Fully collapsed the piston into the caliper. Still need an 1/8. The parts guy did suggest I machine it off the rotor which has never worn enough to need machining( it's probably got 5000 miles at most and new pads are all that's ever run on it.
