Anchor stamped on screws?
Cleaning up the five hex cap screws that hold the upper part of the engine bay heater box in, I noticed they have an anchor on them. Is this OEM, or another clue at decoding the GSA history of my truck? Navy?

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
That's a cool little find, even if it's not stock. I don't have any insight but I'm in for any answers.

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
The anchor is the marking of the bolt manufacturer. Very common on all GM vehicles.

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
Yeah, I have seen them on quite a few of my 63 bolts.

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
Darn... Thought I had found something. I had visions of a seebee reassembling a heater box using random stuff from a bolt bin.

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
There is another car manufacturer that used the same screws on the firewall.

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
Very cool!
Can I ask a question? How do you keep from rubbing the paint off when you put those back in? Thanks!

Re: Anchor stamped on screws?
Clean sockets and rolling paper. I've heard of others using tissues, but I've always used rolling paper. It come's in handy for a lazy machinist trying when setting bit height a thou off a piece of work too.
