Can we say cheezey!!! I couldnt help myself!!
Well I have been buying parts for my 396 that I am installing into my panel. I bought a pollished aluminum edelbrock performer intake manifold, 750 edelbrock electric choke carb, new cam and lifters, 560 int. lift/573 exaust, duration 240 int/246 exhaust.
Then I am buying ball milled flamed aluminum dress up parts.. What do you think??? A little cheezy!! I thought they would work because I am putting flames on the panel. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

cheezy
Not cheezy dude, very coool. I bought the same stuff for my small block except smooth breathers on the covers and a Shotgun Bill's air scoop assembly. I like the flame cut billet , it looks real clean a streetroddy(new word). Looks good on your project so far, my Burb is finally coming along pretty good now. Got the front bagged this week and all the front end painted. Today got the rear wood floor cut out and the monster notch in the pinch welds are about 1.5 " off ground. Sunday I'm going to build some blocks for the rear and build a new full length panhard bar. Also got to build bag brackets and plumb system, hope to have it all done Monday night. Then I got to rebuld the trans and swing bearing crossmembers so it will lay pinchweld. Maybe next weekend I can start assembling the engine. Wish me luck.

Any cheesiness will be offset by the fact that the 396 will blow the doors off of the rest of the chrome valve cover crowd.

Thanks everyone... I was a bit worried that maybe it was a little too much, especially with the flame pcv and oil filler caps. I also want to by the billit aluminum swivel water neck. can anyone tell me their experiences on those? I am also going to use the billet pullies, my pollished stainless steel duel electric fan assembly, and our new pollished stainless steel radiator covers. I am undecided as to wether or not I want to use our chrome inner fenders.... Decisions, decisions....LOL
ghetocrewzer, sounds like you have your a good plan and your weakend set out for you. I do wish you luck.. That is a lot to get accomplished. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

i think they look great, but i like FRENCHBLUE's idea about painting them the flame color or the body color... uniqueness pays off, and while this is a good start, adding that detail would put it over the top in my opinion... :p then no one on this board or that you would know could say that they have the same...

They are nice. It seems that everything has flames on it. Personally, I am sick of flames. They are boring IMO. Anyone can put flames on anything.

If done right, and in an original way, I am okay with flames, but I do agree that they are becoming wayyyy over-used.

I again appriciate everyone's input. I have already purchased all of the flamed parts so I will be using them, and I do like the idea of painting the flames. I do agree that flames have been over used lately and that is why the flames on the Panel are going to be ghost flames. I dont think that ghost flames would work on the engine and I am also not a fan of painting engines the same color as the vehicle either. My panel will be painted Cadallac white diamond, and to have a white engine just wouldn't seem right. So I will be painting the engine good ole chevy engine orange, and after thinking about it, the flames might look pretty cool painted that color to match the engine.... What do you think?? WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
Another thought that just struck me also is to just have the flames powder coated candy ruby red.... Hmmmmm That would match the color of the lettering (Classic Heartbeat) that I will be doing on the side of the panel.
