Re: Raymond

Well we got to enjoy The 67 for a couple of days... It has made its way to Patterson Racing to get some fine tuning... The truck is running extremely rich... once that is completed then it will go and get the right rear wheel straighten... we discovered it was bent when we had it on jack stands trying to get it to shift and when ywe drove it it has a real bad shimmy in it... once that is done then I will take it to Gene and Otis over at Unruh alignment to have it aligned... it is still a little twitchy... then once that is done then I will take it back to Jett Transmissions to have them clock in the speedometer... Then I will take it back to Chis Carlsons Hotrods to get a few thing fixed that aren't working right...

WHEW!!!!... that sounds like alot but it really isn't...

When I did a axle flip and 4.5 drop on my 1967 GMC it would start to shake after about 45 mph. I never got a chance to put the shims in it before I sold it.

Re: Raymond

Ok... I know it has been along time since I have given a update on the truck so here we go...

I took the truck back to Patterson Racing because it was smoking heavily out of the pipes at all RPM... They had it for over a month... The end results were the Valve seals were bad in it so they replaced them... Now it does go down the road fogging like a Mosquito machine... While they had the truck working on it, they damaged the really cool Upper radiator "hose" that Drew Carlson made for the truck... Now it will have to go Back to Carlson Hot Rods to get that fixed along with a few little issues...

While it was at Patterson's it leaked Tranny fluid all over the floor... (Allen was NOT happy)... So when I picked it up from there I took it straight to the Tranny shop... I have to say these shops are really starting to work on my good nature... This is the second time I have had to deal with a leaky transmission in this truck... The first time they told me the pan was leaking so they resealed it... Now they asked me who pulled the transmission pan and sealed it with silicone... I told them nobody has touched the tranny since them.. They said well you had it at Patterson's they must have tried to seal it... I know Patterson and his guys and I know for a fact they would not have done anything, so I told these guys to quit trying to pass the buck and fix the F__king Transmission... So, the short of it they fixed it and I got it back...

Then I took it to my nephews shop to get the Rear lowered another 1.5" and to make sure the pinion angle was correct... We discovered the angle is off appx 4 degrees causing some of the vibration in the truck... We have the shims on order to gix this issue...

While we wait on those to come in I took the truck over to my favorite Alignment shop... These same two guys have done all the work on my cars since I was 15...

The camber was soooo far off on this truck Gene asked me how I could even hold it on the road... That has been fixed but he is baffled why it doesn't return when you turn it... I have done some extensive research on this and I think I have stumbled on the issue so I will take it back to him with some documentation and see what he thinks...

Carlson Hot Rods has had my buddy Buckets for awhile now to recover them and make some mods to it like make the seat backs fold forward and install some cup holders... All the modifications have been done now we are waiting on the White Vinyl to get here so they can start stitching...

Here are some pics of the buddy buckets as they sit now...

Re: Raymond

I love your truck.

Just an idea, I replaced the lower cross shafts for my control arms and mine doesn't return to center either. I think the aftermarket shafts locating pin holes are off, making it have issues with caster. I picked up some decent OEM ones, but have yet to swap them.

Love the buddy buckets and the cup holder in the console. Isn't is weird how a lot of auto repair shop managers/ owners are so dang nice when they want your money to repair your vehicle and totally flip the Jekyll and Hyde switch once you have a issue. I had the same experience when I took my recently rebuilt transmission back to the shop because it wasn't shifting right two weeks after the rebuild.

Right Scott... It isn't like they were sponsoring the truck and building a free TH400... I paid what I think was a premium price... Patterson was actually really good... the engine was built last November so it was effectively close to a year old while it had not even fired for the first time 10 months after the build they didn't fuss at all just said bring it up and they would take care of whatever the problem ....

Re: Raymond

Well it has been another long time since I have had a Update on the truck... the Seat has been at the upholstery shop for about 3 months now... and it still isn't done but they are getting closer... I think they are doing 1 stitch a day...

Actually we are making substantial changes to the original Buddy Bucket so there has been quite abit of fabrication being done prior to stitching the covers...

The Fab. is completed and the frame will be painted in the next couple of days then the custom stitched covers will be done and then installed...

This weekend Jan and I will be installing the Boom mat and sound insulation in the truck and the temporary carpet that we got just to get us by until the house is completed next year...

I did get the Diamond Back Tires for it and dropped the rear of the truck another 1.5" and adjusted the pinion angle to make it a total of the drop 5.5" front and 8.5" rear... It now has the right stance...

I also have bought a bedcover for it and trying to figure out how to make it work... it is not designed to work with a tailgate that opens from the inside but I think I have it figured out...

Re: Raymond

Well we are making progress... The seats are probably covered by now and are waiting for Carlson's Hot Rods to make room for the truck to go back over...

It will probably go over the week of the December 26 to get the seat put in and get a few problems worked out...

For your viewing pleasure here are the pictures that Carlson sent to me... in these pictures the covers have just installed the covers and have not stretched them or put het to them...

Re: Raymond

Dan, the theme on this truck is just cool. Your vision and execution are really shining through on this build... I look forward to seeing you on the show circuit this year.

I'm sure we'll cross paths since I plan on entering a few select shows myself this year..... (no build thread, I just bought a "finished" one)
