Can't find a non-shade-band windshield

"Old Roy" is in need of a new windshield. I called a friend of mine who is also an auto glass installer as he has done many windshields for us. He says the only windshield he can find in a "quality" glass is one that has the shade-band at the top. That won't work, I'm 6'3" and with the new seat foam Old-Roy has, I'm only using the top 3" of the windshield as it is. I told my friend I could order one from many of the different parts vendors for our trucks, but he advised not to do that as the quality, and more importantly the FIT, will be sub-par.

Thinking maybe he had lost his touch, I reached out to Safelight. After a 20 minute phone conversation the lady on the other end of the line said the same thing...can only find a windshield with the shade-band at the top.

So, does anybody here know of somewhere to find a QUALITY windshield without the shade band at the top?

The glass place I'm going to go with is able to get me the "Green Tinted" glass like my original, so they are available. I understand why you don't want the Blue tint band at the top. Maybe you need to find a sales person whose a little older to understand you.

Yes, the "green tinted" is what I want, and that's what the glass guy was looking for. I know this glass can be found through most of the vendors that serve our needs for other parts, but according to my glass-guy, they are going to be "china" pieces that don't fit the opening correctly.

I guess what I'm asking is if anybody has experience with windshields from any of these vendors. (Does it fit?)

LMC and Summit both offer it. Google my username and windshield, I have a thread with part numbers and what's what with the various tints. Should be all you need if you can find it.

Like so:

And you'll find:

Thanks Dave. I saw that Summit is selling these on eBay for $210 with free shipping, but I wasn't sure if these were decent quality.

Re: Can't find a non-shade-band windshield

I had a green tint windshield installed in my truck a couple months ago and it fit perfect. Used a new gasket with the original trim.

I use originals from junkyard trucks if they are not all pitted up.
