Vent Window help
Guys-
I'm jumping in head first and trying to replace the rubber on my vent windows with pop rivets. Ive read a few posts and it looks like it can be done My question is since most knock off the two rivets adjacent to the tubular pivot rivet; do I need to take the two rivets off at the top of the window to change the rubber? Ive circled the areas in question. At the top of the vent window there are two rivets. I only removed the two near the pivot rivet. Any ideas? |

Re: Vent Window help
Just watched a you tube video on this yesterday. Very helpful. And I believe you will have to remove all the rivets. Look up the video.

Re: Vent Window help
Yes thats the one I watched and there are others. There is also a member on this forum I believe Roger Koop who is rebuilding these as well. Good luck.

Re: Vent Window help
You do not need to remove the lower ones you have circled. But you do need to remove the top ones.

Re: Vent Window help
Something that makes it a lot easier is to weld your it tool to a air chisel punch. Makes it a one man operation and s very quick I did both of mine in 15 mins and the rivets are nice and tight

Re: Vent Window help
Did you put in pop rivets? Is the two rivets the only ones I need to remove at the top

Re: Vent Window help
Well it looks like if you don't take off the hinge pivot rivet you have to remove the outer two rivets on the frame to pull it up enough to get the gasket on

Re: Vent Window help
Gents,
Need some help. Can you please look at the orientation of my rubber gasket and seal to make sure this is right? The pics would be if you were looking at the driver side from the outside. Is that gap in the gasket supposed to be on the inside or outside? Also the seal on the division bar. Does that need to be flipped around? The higher side is facing left vs the right side. So higher side would be toward the inside. Last edited by 72tutone; 10-19-2016 at 07:43 PM. Reason: Forgot verbage |
