Hey gang,

Looking at replacing my stock 6-luggers with some american racing AR-767's (the black powder coated d-window type) Before I order the wheels I was wondering how wide are the wheels on my stock '70 C10 2wd? I was thinking of getting 15" x 7's". 8"s would be nice but I think it'd be too hard to steer with manual steering. Thanks in advance!

I replaced my stockers with 15X8 ralleys, and I can't tell much difference in the required effort to turn it.

I have 15X8's on all four on my 70cst. Only mistake I made was I put 275x60x15's on the front. To big...The front tires rub the lower control arm when I turn. I'm going to replace the 275's with 255's and all shoud be fine. Also I should point out I have a 81 front end installed.

I have 15x8 with 275/60 tires on my stock 70. No problems what so ever on clearance. I think your clearance issues, especially on the inside are going to depend on your backspacing. I had 15x8 ralleys, now I have some old American Wagon wheels and neither are a problem, although I have not measure either wheel's back spacing.

Is your truck lowered? That's where I am having my problems I think? All I know is the 15x275x60"s are rubbing the lower control arms on the front when I turn. Maybe the 1981 front end has a sharper turning radius then the stock front end?

Ok back to ts71281 question...I don't think there would be much difference between the 7" and 8" wheels as far as steering effort is concerned. I've driven both and I guess I would have to drive them back to back to be able to give an accurate opinion.
Back to yor question ts71281... I would guess the stock rim would be 51/2-6" in width. Ok guys..Who knows for sure?

I had manual steering and had wide wheels. I was very difficult to turn when moving slow. I suggest that you get the smallest width tire you can untill you get some power steering. Unless you want forearms like a bodybuilder.

But I think I will go with the 15 x 7's then. Just an inch wider and that's it. Right now I'm running 235 75 15's on the truck and I want to go an inch wider and the same height. Would a 255x60x15 be the same height as a 235 75 15, just an inch wider?

I had some stock wagon wheels with 235/75s and I switched to a 15X8 with 275/60s all around and didn't notice much, if any, difference. I have manual steering too, and I do just fine even in parking lots.
