I thought safety wiring the rear brakes would be a breeze after doing the fronts. Wrong! The parking brake drum limits access to the holes in the bolts.

Once the brakes were done and the wheels were back on it was on to the air intake. I think I have it mostly figured out. More details coming soon.

The new Core shifter moved the knob very close to the steering wheel in 2nd gear as expected. I discovered a Hurst stick that works nice. I would slightly better if it were a little shorter, but the throw is only 3.5 inches.

Will the core shifter mount stick above the floor? Do you have a picture of it installed

Sorry it took so long to reply. The shifter base definitely sticks above the floor. I have a high hump cover, but have yet to cut the shifter hole in it. I may get around to it next week. I’ll add a picture when I do.

I made a bit of progress today with the trans tunnel. Some months ago, I screwed up cutting the hole in it. It took a bit of patching. It looks pretty good now. The last picture show the clearance between the seat and the stick with the seat all the way forward and the trans in second.

I discovered the shift boot I was looking for from a 65 through 72 Buick from Metro Supersoft, part number RP33-Z. I wanted a round boot that worked with a rectangular stick. It will probably only be used to seal out moisture. A leather boot will go over the top to dress it up.

I got a PM from Doobie1 about the Cadillac CTS-V accessory on my LS3. I thought others might be interested in the details. The kit was purchased the kit for $700 over three years ago. Things fit with only minor frame trimming to the frame next to the alternator. Hooking up the power steering hoses required trimming the back of the power steering pully. The AC compressor is tricky to plumb ( I don’t have a solution for sure). I bought adapter fitting AA2209-AA2210 from Air Parts Inc for $67. They might be able to be modified to work, but they aren’t a direct bolt on

If I were to start over, I would go with the Holley system. It’s a bit more expensive, but it looks like it just works.

You might have mentioned it already but what's the reasoning to move your front drive accessories? I mean, why not just run the stock truck setup? Just because this is a cleaner look?
It's expensive but I've heard a lot of guys really like the front runner setup from Billet Specialties.

I just got a drive shaft made at a local shop, Driveline Service of Santa Rosa. There is plenty of clearance to the trailing arm crossmember. The u-joints are 1350s front and rear.

Let me just suggest that drivelines look incredible in a gloss black powdercoating, our 73 got that treatment and it puts my sprayed black on to shame haha

I’ve made a bit of progress on the air intake. The parts are all from Spectre Performance. I fabricated the aluminum bracket that holds the air filter box. A local shop welded the 90 to the box. I still need to make a steel bracket to weld to the radiator support to mount everything to. I plan on powdercoating everything once it’s done.

The Tubbs fire came pretty close. We were evacuated, but were able to come back after only day. Flames were visible from me front yard for several nights. We moved all of our pictures and important documents to family in Healdsburg. There wasn't much I could do about the truck. I have a friend with a trailer, but I didn't have any place to store it that was safer than my house. It seemed fires were everywhere. All is good now. Thanks for the concern.

We were concerned about the pocket fire spreading down from the north.....but the expected winds didn't happen so we stayed put....We were on edge expecting the fire to jump containment.....Many friends lost their houses and classic cars...I feel blessed not to go through what they experiencing......Glad you're safe.....
