Gauge Cluster Questions for a 68 c10
Hello,
I have a few questions about the gauge cluster. I would like to use the old school gauge clusters that have the tach in the middle (like in the picture below). Is there anyway that I could use that type of gauge with a LS swap engine? Do I have to buy special adapters so that the cluster can work with the LS engine? |

You will need to spend a little time rounding everything up. I Used the autometer adapters for the coolant and oil line. The coolant sender will have to be aftermarket and then use a potentiometer to dial in your gauge then measure that resistance and match it with resistors. Then add a 10k resistor between the tachometer signal wire and key on power the ls doesn't have enough power to run it without. The stock speedometer might need a adapter to convert the mechanical gauge to receive an electronic signal. I think that pretty well covers anything but let me know if you need anymore information.

Yes, but you will need an adapter like this...
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-2268/ to screw into your LS block where the original oil sender is, or you can remove the original LS sender, break the plastic off of it and drill and tap it to 1/8" NPT thread and use the original '68 oil line block fitting. (as shown in the first picture) On the temp sender I drilled the head out to accept the original '67-'72 gauge sender. You use a 23/32 bit ( I started out small and worked my way up) and a 1/2-14 NPT tap, and use the correct sensor for your gauge or light. LockDoc

Depends if the trans your using uses vss for speedo. The original gauges use a cable driven speedo where modern vehicles are electronic
