Need help!
Having trouble getting spark so the motor will start up. I have rebuilt the motor and changed everything to go along with it, like the distributer/points plugs/ wires. The dwell was set right. My truck was running strong after that.
Since the last time I started it, I have put new belts on it and put a fan shrould on it and changed both front fenders and now it won't start. I know none of this effects the engine getting spark but this is all I have messed with. It still had the original coil so Yesterday I bought a new coil and spark plugs. Still no spark. I was wondering if there was anyone whom might of had a problem like this and could please help or some local San diego located board truck members that I could hook up with. I need help troubleshooting this thing. Thanks again all,

1st thing to do is see if you have power to + side of coil. (turn on switch and check with test light). Next test to see if you are getting power to + side of coil while cranking. If above test are ok remove dist. cap-turn on switch and open and close points to see if you get a spark(rubbing block of points has to be on a flat for this test). If no spark your points or condensor are bad. If you have spark to points check your rotor button and cap for burn thru or cracks.

Watch your fingers. Ever tried to stop a mower or a tiller by pulling off the plug wire? PLUG WIRES will bite your @$$.

hmm do you have a good ground from the engine to the body, I am just throwing ideas out here, the coil wire could have melted somewhere or the resistor wire burned out, but as soon as you hook up a test light you'll be able to tell for sure if you have power there or not

Big thanks!
Thanks everyone. I will go home and start this process of troubleshooting. I will watch the wires so I don't get lit up.
Oh yea, Jhow66, If you go to Anderson county sometime to the Junk yards. There is one over there off of a main hi way in Powell that has a CrewCab 67-72, long Stepside, Green Gmc Truck. Original factory Looking Crewcab. When I visit my mom I always go there and see it. Thanks,
