Re: '69 C20 Change Trans vs Rear End, or Both
I'd buy the trans from a vendor (TCI, Bowtie Overdrives, B&M, Art Carr, etc) and install myself if it were me. Let them know what you're using it for and they can help select the right one - i.e. NOT a high stall race trans. Include an aftermarket/additional cooler. I'm probably in the minority preferring a 200 over a 700, but it always seemed the most logical from a "least mods required" perspective in my mind if swapping from a TH350 - you can probably find several threads here that outline the swap with either. The only "strong" 2004Rs from the factory were behind the Grand Nationals (hard to find), but any can be built that way (mid 80s and above Monte Carlos had them among many others - easy to find). TV cable setup is very important, make sure to be familiar with all the precautions associated with it. EZ-TV kit, if still available from Bowtie Overdrives (still in business??) a good thing to use.
