'57 Deluxe heater control valve?

Rebuilding the heater assemble on my '57. The water control, valve in mine was froze up and appeared to be leaking, core pressure tested good, or maybe the leak was from the short elbow hose going to the core. This came to me as a basket case so i'm a bit in the dark here. My valve has the little capilary tube that appears to help control the temp by controlling the flow of hot water. Was thinking of a new replacement for the complete valve but all the replacements I see don't appear to have the capilary tube on them. I assume the ones with out will work, operator would just have to make adjustments as required. Am I missing anything here or should the replacement valve work.

I have replace mine without the tube. Have not had any problems with it. Works just fine.
