parts resource

Hey guys, I got a run down 7 grande sierra K10 and I was wondering what out of it I can swap to my 70 K2500. Recent the brakes went out on the 70, not sure if it was a line or the master, but there is zero pressure at all. So, either A: I was running off only one circuit, or B, the master is gone. Moral of the story is that the stock setup was a manual master, and the 77 has a vac booster and good master. Will the master bolt up and work with the all around drum brakes or should I look at some other way of doing it?

Thanks,
Austin

The 77 would have front disc, rear drum. That master uses a larger reservoir for the discs and a smaller reservoir for the drums. The drum/drum masters are the same. Once more, the front disc uses a 1/4" fitting with a 3/16 fitting for the rear drums. I wont say "no" it work but it certainly wont be a plug and play without a linkage kit and the correct fittings...The economical way out is to rebuild the drum/drum master or replace it with a new reman for a few more bucks. And welcome aboard the board!

I figured the discs up front was gonna do it in. But I was debating on swapping the front out to discs on the 70 anyway if the master/booster combo would have fit. But looks like Im gonna just have to buy parts. Haha, did they have a power booster from drum/drum setups?

Yes they do. I run power drum/drum on my 70. You can still get new master cylinders at most auto parts stores, and they're not too expensive. So if you wanted to convert yours to disc, it wouldn't break you.

Alright, awesome. Now I just need to get the new master and such. Would it be a direct bolt on if I went to O'riellys and bought a power brake master?

Re: parts resource

You can use a manual master cylinder and add the booster, but you will need the pushrod for power brakes. The stock manual lines will also work. Just make sure to bench bleed the master cylinder before you install it.
