Patch Panel repair Order
I need to replace a few panels in my cab, close to all of them actually. I have never done auto body metal work, but weld on a weekly basis, so the actual welding and fitting shouldn't be an issue. My worry is what panel do I start with?
I have thought it out, I think this is the order, but correct me if there is a better way: Cab Supports Cab Pillar Inner Rocker Kick Panel Floor Pan Cab Corner Outer Rocker Also, do I need to brace the cab prior to removing the cancer? at this point the doors open and close good. if so what is the best position for the braces?

Re: Patch Panel repair Order
If you are replacing the floor pans you definitely will want to brace the cab up, are you planning to do a complete floor ? If you do a complete floor the supports are already on it

Re: Patch Panel repair Order
Not the full floor. Just by the feet and along the doors on both sides. cab corner and kick panels also have the rust.
If I do it in small areas, is the bracing still necessary?

Re: Patch Panel repair Order
No bracing necessary for just doing that, if you look at my 68 build you will see where I just did what you are doing yourself

Re: Patch Panel repair Order
I put a brace on each side just some square tube from the floor to the pinch weld under the roof in the back glass hole. Now if you are gonna change a front cab support then brace something up front so not to cause sag. Don't ask me how I know this

Re: Patch Panel repair Order
Once you start cutting panels out it'll be obvious what has to be welded back in first and last. Not to mention you'll get to do repair you weren't really wanting to do... like outer cab supports. But you'll need the front fenders and doors to help set where your outer rocker panels will need to be.
I used the full outer cab floor extension in my 1972 cab and really liked how well it fit. Once that was installed it all went in pretty smooth. Gary
