look steering wheel

I am kind of proud of this so I thought I would share. I have over 20 hours in just sanding this wheel. It started out the typical wheel all full of cracks. I Cut out all the cracks filled with epoxy, then smoothed with filler, several coats of 2k, and painted.

I don't think I would ever do another wheel very tedious and time consuming but the results were worth it.

Good job. I tried one and it came out OK but I didn't spend enough time on it so it looked a little ragged. You sure can't rush it or cut any corners or it won't come out like yours did.....

Nice work sir. I did my 67 Chevelle wheel a few years ago and have been using it ever since.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: look steering wheel

That's nice work. You say you would not do another because it takes a lot of time, but I'm thinking the more you see it, the more likely you are to change your mind.

Looks fabulous.

Re: look steering wheel

What did you paint it with? What is 2K? I bought a kit from Eastwood but didn't use it because I needed to research what paint to use! Spray can or
gun?

I used ppg paint from a gun. 2k is high build primer that is used to fill in small imperfections. A 2k primer is a must to make it look really good.

Thanks 68, I will dig out my kit and a real crappy wheel and experiment. I found all that paint on ebay. So which brand works best?

Beautiful Job! What epoxy did you use, and what is 2K primer?
My neighbor had replaced his '69 GMC wheel a couple years ago so he may still have it.
