lowered front today

I put 3" lower springs on the front of my truck today. Everything went pretty good except drivers side spring won't stay seated in upper spring pocket when truck is jacked up. Took two floor jacks to get it right, one under cross member and one under lower A-arm then lower at same time to hold spring in place. Anyone else have this problem? I am concerned that every time I jack up truck I will have problems getting spring back in position.

From what I hear that's common with using the 3" drop spring. 2" stays put. I used 2 1/2" lowered spindles and cut 1 round off the stock springs on mine to get her down about 4 1/2". My springs stay put.

Shorter drop shocks or limiting straps would solve the problem.

So if I install lowering shocks the coils won't drop out of place when jacked up? I stayed with stock shocks so far but if changing them out will help I will do that.
What are limiting straps and how would they work.

The springs fall loose when the shocks ARE attached?

Yes they do. I do have stock shocks. Driver side is worse than passenger side.

Using the shock for a droop limiter isn't the best method, but unless you plan on getting airborne a bunch, it will work. To choose a shock, jack up the truck and measure the length of the shock just before the spring starts to pop out. That's the extension measurement. Then jack the truck under the control arm to get the measurement for compression. You'll want to find a shock that works within those parameters. Allow for an extra inch for compression so the shock doesn't bottom out and blow the seals.

Limiting straps are an offroad deal, but they'll work to limit extension on anything. You can mount them from shock eye to shock eye, or bolt them from the frame to the lower shock eye. Have a friend with those short springs and they dont stay put either. Why not use drop spindles and have correct geometry anyway?
