That truck looks great!! I've never been a fan of lowered longbeds, but yours has changed my mind

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Where did you get the new axle mounts and U-bolts from. I am installing a Dana 60 from a leaf spring truck into a coil spring truck and have been looking at different sites without luck.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Finally got it back on the road after the Porterbuilt install, new brakes, power steering, a bunch of misc parts and a 700R4 auto trans. I gotta say it handles great. The bagged ride with kyb shocks works great. The factory dana 60 posi has 4.56 gears yet its running about 2000 rpms at 55. I like the gearing now as its pretty quick.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
Great truck. I have a c20 I would like to level...that Porter system looks like the ticket without losing any cargo capacity...does the tuck lose any cargo capacity with that suspension?

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
I'm not sure what the bag capacity is on these. I don't haul anything so it wasn't a concern. The bags and shock combo sure ride nice though.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
I would ask Porterbuilt that question directly. Their website shows no difference between C10 & C20. C20's are shown having a load capacity between 1475 and 3475 depending on how the truck was originally equipped. Personally I would have concerns about putting 1500 lbs in the back with a bolt in frame modification.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
This is what I did to keep the capacity of our '72 C20 Custom Camper. Using the CPP notches, I then made and installed extra plates. These where installed both inside and outside of the frame and stitched in. Since we lowered the truck, (static drop), I added a bag over leaf system. This allows me to tailor the ride and capacity. The bags I used have a 1500 lb. capacity each. Most double convoluted bags start at 2500 lbs. capacity each. My frame and cross members are all stock.

Re: Porterbuilt 8 Lugger
It's been in storage for the past year and a half. Been building a new house and shop so hopefully I'll get back into it this fall. First thing I'm going to do is swap out the wheels for 20" Detroit Steels and I have all the disc conversion parts. I did redo the interior and have the drivetrain all together with the 700R4.
