Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
Help, I have looked and read lots on this topic and the more I search the more conflicting answers come up.
Can I ask this question one more time? Looking for the fitting size and tread type form a 4L60e to stock 71 radiator transmission cooler. I will be running a hose replacement. Thanks so much!

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
You'll want 1/4" NPS fittings at the trans.

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
The original tube is 5/16". Regular tube nuts with a double flare on the tubing should go in both the factory trans. fitting (the "adapter" fitting that racecouger mentioned) & your radiator.
You will want to use either metal tube or braided hose with correct ends...regular rubber hose & clamps is NOT the way to go. Lorne |

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
So a 5/16 male inverted flare fitting is what I need?

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
Yes, that is correct. The fittings screw into the stock radiator and the donor lines push right into the fittings with the clips. The lines required a few bends but everything turned out great.

Ran AN fittings and Russell flex lines neatly along the frame right into the radiator cooler.

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
Double-check which is inlet and which is outlet on the trans, as they're not all the same. I don't know which way the 4L60E runs, but for example the TH400 and 200-4R are reversed from one another I think.

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
Guys, I'm running a Champion EC369 radiator and will be retaining that for my 5.3/4L60E swap. Can I reuse the lines from the TH350? I would prefer to go that route if possible. My second choice would be to go with AN fittings and line. I know they make the adapters for the transmission side but not sure what I need to adapt the cooler side. According to Champion, the fittings in the radiator are 1/2" 20 straight thread G 1/4".

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
You can use your old lines, you will just need adapters maybe at the trans..

Re: Transmission lines 4L60e to stock 71 rad cooler
Bringing this back to the top. I have the correct AN adaptors at the transmission (4L60e) now which AN fittings do I need to thread into my radiator? Specs of the EC369 state that the trans cooler fittings are 1/2" 20 STRAIGHT THREAD G1/4. Also which is in and out of the radiator? Top I would assume is the inlet...thanks all.
