Steering gear box replacement.....
So I replaced my stock steering gear box with a CPP CP50014 and it is awesome! Very tight ratio and zero slop. I did have trouble with the universal high pressure line so I just used the one I had. I also installed the filter that they recommended. Very happy with this purchase.

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
It really was. I was about to have no steering at all! The old one wasn't too sloppy but it leaked like crazy. I love this box.

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
Sp do they offer a kit that includes all of the adapters and fittings required for the install, or did you have to piece that together yourself?
I'm tempted to do this upgrade, but don't want to get the box, find out I'm missing an adapter, and then the truck is apart for a week while I wait for parts...

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
The box comes by itself. However the guy there recommended replacing high and low pressure hoses and the rag joint. Which, I agree with that. There really weren't any adapters. All you have to do is pull off the pitman arm with a puller, take off the four bolts holding the box to the frame and disconnect the steering shaft. Then hoses and it's all apart.

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
So the lines and fittings that go into my current box will go right into the new box?
When I did a conversion on my Camaro (and it might have been the 600 box) it had metric fittings that required adapters. But if it's plug and play, all the better!

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
Yes. I used a new low pressure line and my original high pressure line. The fittings are the same size so they screw right in.

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
I'm about ready to order the same box; what was the part number of the filter?

That's the steering box itself; I'm looking for the black filter part number that's in your pic

Re: Steering gear box replacement.....
Just my two cents, I bought the CPP conversion kit through Summit and it was cheaper there than buying it direct from CPP go figure. You may want to check with them and compare priciing
