Re: Tail light gaskets???
I buy black closed cell foam to use when restoring the vent flappers inside the a/c heat airbox under the dash . It comes in a multitude of thicknesses and shapes easy with an X-acto knife or just a razor blade .

Grump, what do you use to re-staple thru the metal on the flappers?

Re: Tail light gaskets???
I remember my rubber inner fender flappers on my 64 Impala were attached by staples and I had to buy them separately and hand bend them.

Re: Tail light gaskets???
I sealed the tail lights on my dad's VW Dune buggy by using a Rubber sealant aka RTV, you want to get the stuff that drys 100%. I sprayed PAM anti stick spray on the old gasket, then put the RTV over top of it (pretty heavy amount) then let it dry for a few days. Went back and trimmed the gasket to the correct shape and put it in. Its been about 5-6 years and the taillight still water tight. It is for sure a time consuming way to go about it, but I didn't have any rubber laying around and they didn't make a gasket anymore.

Re: Tail light gaskets???
All, I appreciate the replies. The foam ones I got will work....I just would like to have some OE style rubber ones. I like how they look and fit better. Seems they would be better all around....
