progress pic and need help
hey everyone, I started to mock up the engine and transmission today. Can someone help me with a measurement? I need to have a few dimmesions if posible from the front lip on the crossmember to the center of the crank or to the pan rail or anything else that will help make shure this engine is at the right height before I start fabricating the trans mission crossmember to the correct angle.

If you have an intake on the engine, remove the carb and use a small (torpedo) level or an angle finder level on the carb mounting area and level the engine and trans.

Thanks but a bubble level wont work. It has a required angle. I know the angle but since these are not the stock mounts, I'm not sure if the whole thing is sitting two high. Since I dont have the cab mounted I dont have a refrence for the fire wall and trans tunnel clearence. I'm hoping to sit the engine in a good position so I dont have cab clearence problems later, when its time to put the cab back on.

What I did on my LS1 was to level the frame and then set the motor at a 2 deg decline front to rear. The rear axle has a the same degree but at an incline. Don't quote me on the number of degrees though. I can't remeber if it was two or four. If you have the rear in you could measure it and then set the motor at the same number of degrees. I hope this makes sense...

Thanks Vince
I'm not worried about the angle right now. Just worrried about the engine height. I now I have to adust the angle, but since I dont have the original style mounts I dont have a refrence point to tell me if the engine is too high. Once I know the height then I can adjust the angle keeping in mind the height constraints. |

I like the clam shell mounts a lot better, stronger and better built. I was going to originaly run a big block with these mounts. It just didnt work out that way. I know others have used them before and have giving me some good tips in installing these towers. Now I just have that measurement to contend with. |

If you set a bubble level on it IT would be 3degrees because the Intake is angled Slightly.
