Re: Canadian GMC 920 fender emblems

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know where Canada came up with the 910, 920, 930 numbering?

I don't even know where the 10,20,30 or 1500,2500,3500 numbering in the US came from for that matter.

So... anyone know anything about truck model numbers?

AFAIK, Ford was the first to identify its trucks from light to heavy with a simple 1, 2, 3, etc, after WWII. Other brands then created their own similar numbering systems.

When the Big Three had Class 8 tractors, they often were numbered 8 or 9. But the numbers usually don't directly correspond to a legislative truck class.

Re: Canadian GMC 920 fender emblems

They were used through 69 on the gmc trucks from Canada. I have yet to see a 940 or 950.
