Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
There have been many a posts on this topic, a vinyl seat cover for a bench seat, but I wanted to add a current one with pictures and current prices from the Big Four. So I will update this thread with an item from each vendor, if you know of others please feel free to help out and contribute.
My rig is a 1974 standard cab 2WD with manual transmission The Big Four Vendors are: 1. Brothers Trucks 2. Classic Industries 3. Classic Parts 4. LMC Truck Last edited by Gregski; 03-18-2017 at 03:23 PM. |

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research
Brothers Trucks 73-80 FRONT BENCH SEAT COVER - MADRID VINYL Item Number: UP80V01 Price: $229.99 Shipping: $33.45 Comments: although I want a black one, their website does not change the pic even if you select the black one for purchase not sure why this is so much more expensive than the other three sources, I always wonder if these online catalog shops order their parts from the same source and then charge what ever they can for the same items Last edited by Gregski; 03-18-2017 at 03:21 PM. |

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research
Classic Industries Comments: Could not find one on their website so contacted their Customer Support, waiting to hear back. These guys have excellent Customer Service, however they don't have much for our 73-87 trucks, they mostly have aftermarket universal junk, think floor mats, mud flaps, and do dads. |

Classic Parts (1973-80) Seat Cover Kit-Vinyl-Black-Bench Seat Item Number: 28-801B Price: $169.95 Shipping: $14.95 Comments: Seems the least expensive of the bunch, but is that what we want, remember you get what you pay for, right? |

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
LMC Truck BENCH SEAT KIT-VINYL-BLAC Item Number: 38-2290-BL Price: $189.95 Shipping: $27.75 Comments: The more I buy from LMC Truck the less I like them. They do not have a Technical Support department, essentially they are just a call center, with no added value if you know how to use the Internet, and can place an order online by yourself, LOL. As far as this seat cover it sure looks a lot like the one from Brothers (gray one in the bottom pic) but it's $40 bucks less! Last edited by Gregski; 03-18-2017 at 03:32 PM. |

I have to say I'm pretty impressed with what they offer. I've been able to find any interior part I've looked for. I found a link for what you're looking http://www.classicindustries.com/pro...027300328.html The keywords to search for were "Bench Seat Upholstery". The other thing with Classic industries is they are the only classic parts company that seems to offer a percentage off. Id recommend getting their GM Truck catalog, you'll be impressed with how much they carry. |

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
I think all of those covers come from here:
http://www.acmeautoheadlining.com/19chstcabpif3.html They are sold on ebay by all kinds of sellers also. Very crappy cataloging by all of them to really see what you are getting. The colors don't seem to match the original interior colors very well at least for the cloth and vinyl mixed covers (silverado).

I have recently talked to USA1 about covers. They will be the next place I'm going to try. They tell me that their covers are made there in NC

I missed the part about your truck being a 74. Most of these are for the standard cab folding seat style 73-80

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research
That is exactly the reason why I will probably never try their covers. That is poor marketing on their part.

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
Do you need the hogring tool to do these covers or can they be done without upholstery tools? My original vinyl seat is about shot.

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
You'll need the hog ring pliers. They come with a small pair, but it is hard to use. I ended up getting a couple of good pair of pliers to do all the seats I have done. Check the link at the bottom of my page, you can see the seats I have done so far. I have started restoring seats as a hobby.

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
I bought the cloth bench seat cover from LMC. Fit/look was fantastic! When I was done, could swear it was a brand new seat from GM. Problem is, the quality is just not there. My original seat cover took 25 years to rip, this LMC cover split at the seam between the side vinyl / cloth after two years. Seems the sun really faded it quickly as well......

Re: Bench Seat Cover Research - Prices - Sources - Vendors
If it's a plain vinyl seat with ribs you should be able to reproduce it in high quality Marine Vinyl and cloth backed foam. I've done Motorcycle, ATV, and Tractor/machinery seats in 32oz -20°F rated Marine Vinyl that has far outlasted the originals.
A mid-century Singer 201, 319, or 501 will easily sew leather and high quality vinyl. I lean toward the 201 for straight plain stitching because it's a heavy simple mule and built like a Sherman tank. The bells and whistles on the fancy stitching machines like the 319 & 501 make them slightly less robust and harder to fix.
