New Gauge Cluster - Truck Wont Start
1971 Chevy C10 - Fuel Injected and does have a computer on the truck.
I just swapped the entire gauge cluster for a brand new one from Classic Industries. Hooked it all back up and go to start the truck and nothing happens. I am not too well rounded on vehicles, just know the basics. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Re: New Gauge Cluster - Truck Wont Start
In Gear and not in Neutral or Park?
Don't ask how I know this When I restored my dash cluster I dropped my steering column down to allow enough room for removal and reinstall. Had the cluster in the dash and went to test the lights and fire up the engine. Engine would not fire Scratched my head for a while and then it dawned on me that the column was still unattached and the gear selector had dropped in gear. Lifes little lessons Good Luck |

Re: New Gauge Cluster - Truck Wont Start
If it's not as simple as in gear, start tracing the purple (crank) wire from the key and on through the neutral safety switch at the base of the column, from where it goes to the starter. Got to be in that wire somewhere!

You could be right Dave, I forgot to mention the neutral safety switch.

Re: New Gauge Cluster - Truck Wont Start
It happened to be that the gear shift was not in park!! It's funny how the little things are so easy to overlook. Well, I guess you live and learn.
Thanks again. |

Re: New Gauge Cluster - Truck Wont Start
Do you have an ls engine , if so check your , crank wire , and 12 volt run wire , you probably pulled one off messing with the dash , next cam , and crank sensor conections , if one of those came lose it wont run either , I had one pop lose hitting the brakes hard in reverse , let us know
