Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Last night I made some adjustments to the outer pair of @kickeraudio 3.5" #coaxial speakers. Based on you guys input I felt they were positioned to high in the mount. I repositioned them below the mount to allow more airspace. I will verify clearance when I reinstall the dash pad.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Thanks. I made the plate to fit an older bezel I used for mock up. I "assumed" the new bezel would be identical. After fine tuning the fit I discovered there were some minute variances. Most won't notice, but it bugs me. I'm going to adjust the final fit before I attach it to the new bezel. Hopefully I won't have to make a new one.

Well integrated is the approach I like. It doesn't always have to mean cut in, flush. But done purposefully and with good craftsmanship, pretty much any mod can look sharp. Even if it shows some seams and fasteners. The Kicker assemblage is coming together nicely. Good that the bass gain can go all the way to eleven. |

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
N2TRUX,
The original dash speakers had a fabric covering over them to help keep dirt/dust/crap out of them, are you planning to do the same and if so, how? Getting ready to install mine, I've bought the fabric, just got to figure out the best glue to use to hold it in place. Enjoy, RIDEAIR |

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Crazy busy weekend, with not much to report on Scarlett. I spent a lot of time Saturday prepping and planting beds in front of my house. After lunch I pulled the Raceline Static5 off of my 77 Cheyenne and put the Coys on for rollers. The Racelines will get a thorough polish and then put on the market. Sunday we hosted a birthday party for my niece.
After spending time with family, Chris and I got to work in the shop. He mapped out wire routing and laid it in place. With a display, speakers in the dash, a data port in the glovebox, a processor under the seat, and a powered sub and 6x9s behind the seat, routing all the wires is a complicated process. The channels along the door sills are shallow and do not accommodate enough wires so we had to run them along the edge of the various humps in the floor. We used duct tape to cover the wires and keep them flat and in place. While Chris worked on wiring I focused on the control panel I had mounted inside the glovebox. I had previously mounted the bass gain control in a panel and decided to ad a USB charging and data port. This turned in to a much bigger challenge than anticipated. After locating the smallest combo port I could find, I still encountered issues getting it to fit properly. Once that hurdle was overcome, the port stuck out to much to allow the door to close. It took a lot of trial and errors attempts, but I finally managed to get everything to align and the door to close correctly. Now I have to determine why the door latch wants to rotate.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
In all the posts I've seen of your 77 I don't believe I've ever seen raceline wheels on. Do you have a pic to post? What side are the racelines and do you have an asking price in mind?

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
I also looked back through the 77 Cheyenne thread and didn't see any racelines. Curious about size, price and what you're upgrading to?

The Raceline wheels I have are 22" Static 5 that came off of the 84 Sierra that I sold last year. The man that bought the truck wanted my 20" VinTecs rather than 22s. They are in new condition. The titties are gone but the bumpies are still showing on the tires. No curb rash or damage of any kind. I will be asking 3800.00 for them. I prefer local pick up.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Just spent 3 hours reading from beginning to end. Very Nice!
How well is your HF blasting reclaimer holding up? I am running a Quincy Compressor over to a good sized TpTools blast cabinet that can do Soda as well and then a 10 gallon Craftsman Vac, but I like this reclaimer, just read quite a few bad reviews........

The HF re-claimer is a beast. Its honestly too much for the cabinet with out a vent. We sealed every seam with a bead of silicon and the vacuum sucks the sides in to a point they broke the seal on the silicone in places. I plan to add an adjustable vent to relieve some pressure.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Do you have any pictures of them on the 77? The white truck just sits too high to get an idea how they looked tucking the fenders

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
We are at our peak season at work, which means start early and finish late. I hate to start a job I can't finish so I'm not touching the dash or wiring till Chris and I have adequate time to wrap it up. While waiting for an opportunity to finish the dash install, I started on design and mock up of the box behind the seat.
This box will house two Kicker Audio 6x9 #coaxial enclosures, a compartment for the Kicker Hideaway powered sub, and some storage. I started on the design phase to determine location and angle of the 6x9 enclosure. I want the speaker to be exposed as much as possible for appearance as well as sound clarity. I was able to accomplish my goal with cardboard. These pieces will be used as a template to mark my MDF for cutting.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"
Friday night I spent some time on the @kickeraudio Hideaway portion of the rear enclosure. I designed an area where we will mount the powered sub and route the wiring.
I dialed in the height, depth, and angle by stacking blocks till it was where I wanted. With the sub location determined I can work on mounting pads to hold it in place. Once secure I can create a cover that will hide the wiring and expose the face of the Hideaway.
