HVAC Ducting
Is there any difference in quality, or do they all seem about the same? Just had the drivers side defroster vent & duct disintegrate. Decades in the sun will take its toll.... So I'm shopping for new defroster vents and ducting. I'm hoping to replace just one for now, but the other stuff might crumble when touched, so I plan on buying enough to do everything. Also, does anyone sell colored defroster vents? Only ones I have found so far are black.

Re: HVAC Ducting
They come in two types aftermarket plastic or OEM black fabric. The black fabric is twice the price and seems like all ducts are cut short by a inch or two. Never tried the plastic.

Re: HVAC Ducting
I used the OEM stuff, good and stiff, stays where you put it. Which is important because you will have your arms up there pressing against them for wiring and such.
I would just spray the plastic. I changed the interior of my truck so that everything that was saddle is now black. I really am quite surprised how well the painted plastic is holding up. I got some plastic spray paint and vinyl spray. Anyhow, I sprayed the side vent rings black. So I can vouch for the durability of the plastic aerosol spray paint. Maybe just primer and spray if you can find the color.

Re: HVAC Ducting
Thanks, guys. I'll get some ordered up, hope it's not an inch or 2 too short. Not a good problem to have.

Re: HVAC Ducting
If it makes you feel any better, mine all fit fine. The ones you pull out will hold their basic bends that you can pretty much follow that as a template. But, some of it is a tight squeeze around the center vent, especially if you have the huge stock radio... patience is a virtue!
