Air bag setup

I bought these airbags from ride tech for my 85' clip that's going on my 64 chassis. I installed but haven't put any air in to inflate yet. I talked to ride tech and they said when I inflate the cup should rest on the bottom. Doesn't the bottom need to be bolted to the bottom control arm?

Re: Air bag setup

No they dont bolt in anywhere. I'm guessing you have the lower arm disconnected from the spindle in the picture? Like they said with the truck on the ground or pressure in the system it will sit in the pocket like it should. They can (and probably will) move around a little but it doesnt hurt anything. Mine were seated in the pocket with no air in them and no weight on the suspension when hooked to the spindle.

You do need to remove that bump/steering stop bracket though to avoid it rubbing on the bag.

Re: Air bag setup

Agreed with bluex. The bag should settle in the cup when you have the truck at rest on the ground. A slight bit of air pressure will keep the bag where it belongs..unless you decide to jump it like Bo and Luke Duke, then there is no guarantee. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me directly. Ill be more than happy to help you out.
