WTD: spare tire mount, spark plug guides, brake drums
I am looking for a few parts that I have been unable to find:
1. Fleetside in bed spare tire mount. just saw one of these and recall some of you may have one. 2. small block chevy spark plug wire guides for routing underneath ram horn manifolds. There are two brackets on either side at the back of the intake and two that mount at the back of the engine flange, 4 clips that route the wires back up along the bellhousing and oil pan and 4 more clips that mount in the engine block just under the spark plugs. 3. 1971-72 3/4 ton 2wd brake drums, hubs and backing plates with an Eaton dropout rear axle. The hubs and drums I found are not going to work and everyone around here wants too much $$$ for these (upwards of $250!). Thanks for your help...Tom |

i know this isn't what you asked for, but i know you can buy a rear disc conversion for the HO52. this way you get easy to find rotors and calipers instead of the wheel cylinders and drums, which I hear are both hard to get and expensive. just a thought, though....if originality is an issue for ya, then disregard what i said....ttt for ya

Tom
Met Tom today. Very organized truck guy. He had a detailed photo and documentation album of his 4x4. He was driving a very stock clean 67 wagon. Got to love the old bowtie iron.
Tom; Thanks and have fun.

I have a spare tire mount that fits in the bed. It was on my 4x4 swb 72'. You can have it for $15.00 plus shipping. It's been bead blasted and is in white etching primer. Let me know if you want it.

I think I found the rear axle parts I was looking for, and the price was right. Bob, thank you very much. I tore apart one side of the axle I got from you last night and I think the backing plates will work with the set of drums I got from D & L truck.
Alex, yes I will take you spare tire mount. Sent you an e-mail. Jerry, thanks for your suggestion a while ago to swap drums, hubs, and backing plates from a 71 3/4 ton 4x4 to the 3/4 ton 2wd. Took some measurements at the local yards and the flange pattern for the backing plates is the same for several years...the original drums are 12" x 2" and the 2wd ones are 11" x 2.75". Does that sound right? I see now why I will need the backing plates and the 11" drums will give me more brake swept area - though it doesn't make sense why Chevrolet would put smaller brakes on a 4x4 vs. 2wd. |
