Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
Hey Y'all, sorry for not giving an update in a while, been a busy past few weeks, been extending fences and working with horses, My oldest brother has come home from England ontop of it all. Still haven't gotten her home, I'm going to have to meet with the Farmer and get her pulled out of the barn, we've had her running, and she ran good, but the rear breaks are locked up so she won't move anywhere, We think he locked the E Brake when he parked it, or it's just sat so long the brakes locked. I get paid on the 3rd so hopefully I'll make some progress

Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
I'm dying to get her home and start. If I could get my Dad to hook on with a tow strap and pull her out of that barn, I could get a jack under her and get brakes free, then tow her home with Dads Explorer.

Since your dad works a lot. Is the farmer or a neighbor willing to help? I sure wish I was close so I could help.

Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
I bring good news today, Finally convinced my Dad to hook on with that Ford Explorer and pull it out of the barn. Passenger side front tire was flat or we would have towed it home. Renting a tow dolly this weekend.

Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
I agree, keep at it. I know your dad work a lot and you haven't met too ma y friends yet. But figure a way to get it home. You'll have sooo much fun with it at home. If pop is gone we're here to help. Once you get it home, I'll give you my number so I can help. I remember the days when my dad and my friends fathers helped me learn. It's time to pass it on...

Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
Also, anyone know of a good place to shop for Floor pans? I got a chance to get under her finally and noticed she needs a Floor Pan, and the frame needs a little help, that's where my Dad being a Machinist and knowing how to weld comes in handy.

Atheys classic truck parts is a few hours north of you. He's got a great selection of new and used parts. He's located in front royal.
http://atheysclassic.com/about I bought a bunch of stuff from him 10-12 years ago for my 57. I highly recommend him.

Everything is coming together, My Dad and I put wheel bearings in a Dodge Dakota 4x4 yesterday, pulled front drive shaft and put U joints in today, finally doing away with the Explorer. Tomorrow we go tow My truck out of the muddy pasture and bring it home.

Re: Newbie, Buying my first. 72 GMC K20
She's home. Dad was feeling a little ballsy, We pulled her out of the pasture, aired the tires up,made some carb adjustments and drove her home with my mom following in my Dads truck, The motor sounded amazing, and boy is she loud, she's got the growl of a 350. Now I have it home and don't know where to begin! Heres a pic of me steering the old girl out of the pasture, I'd forgotten what it was like when you don't have power steering!
