What i believe to be a steering column noise?
I am getting a noise while driving in what sounds like the steering column or in the dash. The faster I drive the louder it gets but goes away at idle. It's like a constant squeaking noise. I already replaced the lower bearing as that was shot. I know there is an upper bearing that I checked and it seems to be ok, is this something that can cause this noise? Maybe the speedo cable?

If it was steering column, seems like you would get the noise only when turning. Since the noise gets louder as speed increases, I would suspect the speedo cable. Disconnect the upper end to prove it in or out of the speedometer itself. If the noise is still there, disconnect the lower end of the cable. If the noise goes away, it's a bad speedo cable. If the noise is still there with the cable completely unhooked, I'm stumped.

Its probably the speedo cable. Take it loose from the speedo head & pull the core out. Feed the core back in with a little bit of grease in your hand. Put a little oil on the end of the speedo where the cable goes. Put the cable back on & you have most likely fixed it.
