Anyone else have this issue?

So, I've been trying to adjust the doors on my truck, and then I noticed theses cracks. Wondering if anybody else has had this problem and what to do to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated .

it looks like the doors been out of alignment even before it was painted last and someone has been slamming it to get it to close ? is that bondo I see there ?

Grind out the old paint and filler so you can see how bad it's cracked , weld it back up and refinish .

That's what I was thinking. I bought the truck a few months ago and then reinjured my back so I'm just now getting a chance to look at it. Thanks for your help.

I'm not going against Grumpy here, I'd clean it up & check it out but it may be time to look for another door. It doesn't look good from the picture & that's not a common place for these doors to crack.

Hey , if finding a much better original door is an option that's great , BUT ... then your talking about refinishing the outside to match the rest of the truck and NICE rust free drivers doors are getting pretty pricey ! I have a dozen sets of doors that need rust repair or have speakers cut out that years ago I wouldn't even consider keeping but I've been saving and storing them in the dry to repair someday down the road , a few years ago I was buying original sheet metal from guys who said

"why fix the old stuff when I can buy brand new rust free "

Well the new stuff doesn't fit all that good now does it ? I will say that I've bought and sold more than a few short beds when they were $3-500.00 but now with the prices are so high on a short bed and then adding in the cost /time for bodywork a new complete bed is a better deal , doors ,hoods, fenders I'll stick with original when possible . 4 years ago I was buying nice drivers doors for $100.00 try finding one for that money now ...

Let's be honest you still could find a decent truck for 1k or pull one out of a field for way less than that. When I restored mine I bought a parts truck with a perfect swb bed and frame for 750. Last week I looked at a pile of Bondi and rust that the owner wanted 3k for

I hear ya Grumpy, I have 8 doors stockpiled that I used to consider 2nds, maybe even 3rds. Now I'm re-evaluating!

Dwyert4, IMO, I'd go used OE before a repro. Also, on your door check for cracks around the door hinges, upper hinge area is especially prone to cracking. (If your gonna fix it, might as well fix it all!)

The way it looks, I wonder if it was a burb or blazer door and someone changed the frame. I would look for another door probably.

I was hoping that wasn't the case. I've noticed it on both doors.

So I did a little poking around and this is what I found. I have no clue as to what happened to these doors. Never seen anything like that before. Did a little searching and I think I found an original replacement, in state, at a good price.

That is a poor repair from the past. Not sure how it got to the point where it needed the repair but I would get a door. Thirty years in auto body repair I have not seen that as a common problem.
