How big of lift before you need straight axle
Curious on how big of lift I can go before needing straight axle conversion...I want to go whiplash 10 inch and run a 38 or 40 inch tire or should I just go 6 inch and run a 35 or 33. I won't be mudding the tuck more just a street toy with its random drive in the pasture Nothing extreme or stressful drive about 10 miles round trip to work and maybe make a 30 mile drive every now and then

Re: How big of lift before you need straight axle
If your not gonna go nuts just go 6" or so. I'm going to eventually straight axle my 2500 because I have a 6.5 with a crossover pipe and Wana run 52" springs for ride softness.

Re: How big of lift before you need straight axle
I'm doing it for the cool factor lol. I have a lifted tundra that doesn't go off-road, but like lifted trucks. Don't see many 88-ups SAS'd, looks better and lasts longer than IFS lifts. Tho prolly be fine with a regular lift with 35/36s, be cheaper in the long run going SAS. I have all the parts to do mine, just need to rebuild axles and start drilling. I say go for it.

Re: How big of lift before you need straight axle
So sounds like I should just go with a 6 inch and run 35 or 36 tires and just keep it simple Figure I will go with a 13.50 or something thanks for the help. Might do a 4.11 gear though or you think a 3.73 will be ok

Re: How big of lift before you need straight axle
I wouldn't do 3.73 or 4.10s, go right to 4.56s. I had a Tahoe that had 9"'of lift and 35s and tho had a good running engine was a turd on the highway. Would have to mash the pedal to pull a hill. Even worse when I put the 38.5 boggers on.
