67 c10 power brakes?
I just took possession of the C10 my father bought new in 1967. In the 90’s he replaced the straight 6 and manual trans with a 350 V8 and turbo 300 trans (I think). He said they added power steering at that time but that he had never added power brakes. After driving it I believed him, It had a very heavy peddle to get it to stop. I opened the hood and it looks to me that it does have a brake booster and vacuum line going to the intake manifold, but it’s clearly not working. Pops has no memory of where or when it might have been installed. He swears it never had power brakes. I pulled the vacuum hose and it seems to have very good vacuum. I’m hoping I can just replace the booster and master cylinder and have working power brakes. My concern is getting the right part without have to do major mods to get it to work. Can anyone ID from the picture if this is the correct setup for a 67 or was it pulled from another year. Also any suggestions on trouble shooting the booster would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
Do you have the factory drum brakes on the front, or has someone swapped it out for discs...

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
I could be wrong but the bracket mounting the booster to the firewall looks off to me and the tee fitting for the front brakes looks out of place. Im sure peopke who know more will chime in.

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
Thanks for the responses. It still has drum brakes. I was wondering if that was a proportioning valve hanging on the side. I thought that was only needed on a disc/drum or disc/disc setup. As you may have guessed I am very new to working on classic vehicles. I will try and post better pictures of the set up tomarrow. In the meantime here are some pictures of the truck.

With the truck off , pull the plastic valve out of the booster , if it does not suck air its shot .

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
I think the booster and master came off a later 3/4 ton. Probably a square body. The booster bracket looks right but possible mounted wrong.
4 wheel drum should not have a disc/drum p-valve.

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
Thant looks like the correct valve for drums. the T may be for an old style brake controller that used hydraulic pressure.

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
That block is the same one that is on my 67 c20. Distribution block iirc, not a proportioning valve.
Really nice truck man!

Re: 67 c10 power brakes?
The booster and the way that line is coiled, someone at sometime put that in. So somebody threw a booster in there, maybe a mc. If you have a really hard pedal, my bet is the booster is toast. If you pull it off there might be a part number stamped somewhere on it, or you could go stock.
