If I recall correctly, the 69-72 consoles did not have a removable "insert" with the seatbelt pockets and ashtray hole. That portion of the console was integral to the center section of the console. However, the cup holder portion of the 73 and up consoles was a removable insert. Below is a page from the assembly manual that shows the console construction. The metal overlay for that area (called "insert- applique" in the picture) is available aftermarket.
I can confirm this later today. |
