Carmine Red vs. Burgundy

I was curious if anyone could answer wether the burgundy interior color, that seems to have started in 84, is the same as the carmine red? I'm asking before I order vinyl dye since everything I find seems to be carmine red.

No they are not the same. That is weird that all you can find is Carmine. Burgundy is more readily available. When I needed the Carmine Red, I had to use Firethorn & Portola Red. I mixed the 2, to achieve the Carmine Red.

Here's a link to the thread on the subject that I started, when I was looking for Carmine Red.

Re: Carmine Red vs. Burgundy

My truck came with Burgundy interior. All the aftermarket stuff, door panels, dash, carpet, etc. all seems to be just Red or Carmine Red. I don't really want to change it. Am I missing something?

I found the same thing. USA 1 industries does do a pretty good job of keeping the colors divided correctly. I ended up calling and talked to Randy over there and he had the correct color codes and knew what he was talking about. I've always had good luck with working through him on parts. He's very knowledgeable on the differences in model years etc. He's also been pretty honest about which products he has are good original quality and which are not. I did call some of the other companies and they told me they were the same but were in fact selling the wrong color of carpet for my year of truck. I even checked with acc and they showed that the color that they were seeking was for the earlier year trucks not the proper color for the burgundy that we have. That was my findings, I ended up buying carpet and color dye and some other parts from Randy over there bc he did have the proper colors and knowledge. That goes a long way with me.

Glad to here you were able to find the color you where after. I have worked with Randy also in the past, he is very helpful. I don't know why I didn't think earlier to have you call him. Glad he was able to help you out.

Yes he is great to work with. He sent several items to a Swap Meet here in Ohio. It helped save on shipping, since they were big and somewhat heavy. Your right, he knows his stuff, when it comes to our trucks. Glad to here he was able to help you out too.

Re: Carmine Red vs. Burgundy

I looked at USA1, their prices are high. Maybe if I was doing a restoration I'd consider it, but this is just a daily driver/work truck. Now they do show a complete interior kit for $1700 or so that when you think about it that's not that bad. My truck was black with burgundy and I really want the original look.

Re: Carmine Red vs. Burgundy

The Carmine Red looks good. After looking at USA1's parts I think I may go that way. I can get everything I need, Dashpad, Door panels, Seat cover, Carpet, Headliner, Instrument panel,Visors, Door carpet, and some dye for a little under $2000+shipping. All Burgundy and all the trim and mounting stuff. That may seem like a lot but that's a complete interior. I just have to hide a little more money from the wife.

I think that's a good price. If wished they would have had this when I did my interior. I know I spent more than that. And it was hard getting my colors to all match.

Let us know what's it's like when it arrives.

For anyone else that might me interested,
Here's the link for USA1 Industries Complete Interior:

Re: Carmine Red vs. Burgundy

Perfect timing for this thread, I have a bunch of interior parts and was wondering what the color was, these are out of a 83 K30.
