Truck start day: good and bad news.

So today dad and I tried to start my truck, the truck I have been working on since June 2013.

Good news:

She turns over.
Water jacket now has anti-freeze circulated.
Fuel pump works.
No radiator hose leaks (that we found).
Stop cock works (after we saw it leaking and closed it....ugh!)

Bad news:

Big fuel leak at end of hard line into carb inlet fitting.

So.....I need to learn about AN fittings....

Is it the fitting in the carb or the flare fitting that goes in the carb?

Leaks appeared to be at the end of the pre-bent hardline from Inline Tube, where it screwed into the replacement NAPA (fuel filter holder) fitting into carb. I would have bet money I had that on straight.

*I believe the mechanic lost or kept my original fitting into the carb....ugh.

The flare on the line or fitting may be bad.

Had many new fuel lines leak when first installed, have to tighten it way tighter than you think for it to seal the first time. Get a good quadrajet inlet fitting wrench so you don't strip out the carb.

Randy beat me to it. The first time you seat a new hard fuel line (flare fitting) you need to wrench on it pretty hard.
