Hello I'm not sure if this is what is called. The pitman arm .But my son took this pic underneath his truck. Seems like there is something loose underneath the pitman arm. Can somebody tell how we can fix this.
Thanks, Ramiro |

Re: How to fix the pitman arm
Are you asking about the splines showing on the steering box? Or the leak?

Re: How to fix the pitman arm
Having spline showing is normal. Make sure the big nut is torqued to spec (which is a high spec) and you should be fine.

Re: How to fix the pitman arm
What Davepl said.
Only thing under the pitman arm is a nut and lock washer. By appearances only, doesn't look like the nut is tight enough. I just pulled the steering linkage, and you might take a peak at this thread. But it mentions nothing about torque. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=748924

Re: How to fix the pitman arm
I believe it's 180 or 185 ft-lbs, if memory serves correctly. Whatever it is, it's really tight - put your breaker bar on it and you're probably not going to over-tighten it.

If I'm reading it right, page 684 in the assembly manual reads 100-150 pounds foot.
