Could that possibly be the electronic kickdown for the THM400? My 350/350 72's don't have that wire...Can you trace it under the dash?

Does it have factory tach or auxiliary battery setup? My trucks with factory tach dash has the wire coming through firewall like that. I believe my truck with auxiliary battery also has a wire like that. I will have to double check it.

Does it go to a relay above the horn relay? If so, it's part of the TCS, and you can eliminate it. Mine comes through the firewall in the same place, and it took me a while to identify it.

I wonder if that was a big block location or maybe a Cheyanne location for the TCS? I'm wondering because the TCS wire in my SB 72 went through the firewall block, it was a 10ga pink wire. I discarded all the TCS components and used that wire for the HEI when I rebuilt the SB.

Re: Help !!! What does this firewall wire go to

I have a wiring harness on my 72 in that same spot, but it has several wires in it, including the TCS wire and some others.

That spot was for the factory aux. tank on my 72. I think the wire was dark blue or purple (colored blind). I've since pulled it.

I've seen the TH400 kickdown wire on pre 71's in that location, or close to it.

Re: Help !!! What does this firewall wire go to

The wire I have coming through at that location is for the gas gauge switch for the NL2 optioned auxiliary fuel tank.
