Clutch Help!!!!!
So I removed the pin on the clutch arm that goes through the firewall to slide a new boot on. In doing so, the rest of the clutch assembly moved and the rod that goes to the clutch fork dropped out. So once the boot was on I fumbled around and got everything put back together, so I though.
My clutch pedal goes to the floor, but the linkage and everything else barely moves. I am not sure what moved, or changed, but everything looks to be in the right place. Please help. I appreciate it. |

Did your clutch fork slip off the throwout bearing?

No. I even checked. The transmission side seems fine. Something happened to the linkage somewhere and I have no idea where. I'll post a pic in a sec to see if I am missing something.

Did you loosen the clutch arm the goes through the firewall on the pedal shaft and not get it back in the same clocked position?

Your pivot arm didn't disengage from the slot in the frame bracket, or the ball end on the engine side? The link rods may keep this pivot arm looking like it's in place, but may not be attached on one end.

slomotion, I checked that and the rod is secured. I am sure it is original, because it is a little sloppy on there, but up until I put this boot on, everything on the clutch worked fine. The clutch pedal moves all the way to the floor but it looks like the rod and linkage is only moving a couple inches. Not enough to activate the clutch.

Can't tell from the photo if your missing Wing nut shaped piece at end of rod near clutch throw out arm. 2 holes in throw out arm, is there a vertical notch in these? The end of the rod that goes in 1 of those holes has a flares end 1 1/4 from end. Wing nut shaped piece slides over end keeps it centered.

No insult taken. The odd thing about this is that it was working earlier in the week because I moved it and the clutch was fine. Something happened when I disconnected the linkage, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what.

Nitsolo, thanks for the pic. I was online and saw that same part. Nope, in fact all I have at the end of that pushrod is a nut that the last owner slid on there. I am finding more rigged stuff as I go on this truck. I pulled the whole assembly out and am going to replace it. It's pretty sloppy in there so I'll make sure all the correct parts get put back in. Get an old truck, they said, it will be fun to work on, they said. Lol
