In my truck I'm fine with the factory 4 core, but for my LS car I'm running the old big block BeCool aluminum with a steam port return bung welded in and that works fine.
In fact, the fans rarely ever run as long as you're in some kind of motion. The LS motor sure seems to stress the cooling system less than the old big block did!
