Manifold coatings
Guys
Putting a 261 in my 49 3800. Keeping the truck a rat rod except for cleaning up the motor and repainted it. Now to the manifolds. I have them apart to put in a new gasket and wondering what other guys had done. Motor looks good so I thought of having the manifolds ceramic coated. What have guys done meaning fully re-assemble and then have them coated or leave apart and have them coated? |

Re: Manifold coatings
Jet hot has some very good looking cast iron gray coating. I plan to use that myself.

Re: Manifold coatings
There are a lot of different colors in ceramic coatings now. Most recently, I had my local powder coater coat some of the parts on my Pontiac 194 Trophy 4 cylinder, including my intake and M/T valve cover the factory early Pontiac blue, and then the RAIII exhaust manifold a cast grey ceramic.

Re: Manifold coatings
^^^ that's sweet. I've seen a lot of different engines over the years, but I've never seen one of those before.

Re: Manifold coatings
Proper prep is very important is a exhaust manifold coating's durability. Sandblasting is the best IMO. In the past I have used wood stove paint with excellent results. Stove Bright brand is the best. It can be found at Lowe's or most stores that sell wood and/or pellet stoves. It comes in many colors as well.
