How to remove and install rear glass

Hey guys

Fixing to install one piece rear glass in my truck. Need advice on first how to get the slider window out then best way to install the new one piece glass or would it be "safer" to take it to a glass shop don't want to break it.

Re: How to remove and install rear glass

its fairly simple..I've done several by myself with no issues...remove the chrome locking strip and use the plastic tool to get under the glass, working your way around and it'll roll right out...I bet utube has a video on it...

Just out of curiosity, why do I see everyone ditching the sliding rear glass? I kinda like mine...

I've had problems in more than one truck where the felt padding under the glass that slides gets all bunched up and the window won't close, leaving your vehicle unsecured.

When I finally get that problem solved I never use the slider window again for fear it will happen again.

Other reasons:
Appearance
Blocks view a little bit
Easier to break into
Leaks when wind-driven rain gets in (I'm in FL on the Gulf Coast)
Costs more
I always have ac so don't need it for cab ventilation

Little off subject... has anyone installed the flush rear glass conversion from "one piece glass"?

Re: How to remove and install rear glass

The headache rack on my flatbed takes care of the security issue. Usually leave the sliding glass open when parked if it's nice outside. If they want the truck bad enough to break the welds on the frame and remove the bed, they deserve to have it.

I'm going the opposite direction with mine. I'll be installing a slider. Anybody need the one piece rear glass?

Re: How to remove and install rear glass

Most time if it's old rubber takes about 10 to 12 min take out the back glass and the plain flat glass is faster to get out. So you do not have to break the glass to get in.
