Re: Show Me your Trucks with Steel Wheels and Hubcaps
That blue k20. Goodness that's sharp. What is the paint code? Mine has been painted but that's the color it needs to be.
Here's my 91 with a nice set of caps.

My old 76. Almost done with my 73 body swap, it'll have the same lift, tires, and rims. Nothing beats the steels and caps!

Re: Show Me your Trucks with Steel Wheels and Hubcaps
Can anyone tell me what year they switched to the newer style caps? I have a ‘75 c20, which came with its original 16.5” wheels but no caps. I Have a set of the later “pie plate” caps but really like the earlier era “dog dish” ones. Thanks!

what ever was stock on a 88 crew cab . never even looked . the skinny 255/85/16 tires fit just like the stock 235/85/16 tires would have .

Re: Show Me your Trucks with Steel Wheels and Hubcaps
Let me dig up an old thread...😂
Who is yezzi, is he still on the board, and can he or someone else give me some info on that tire wheel combo? Sizes, backspace, etc. My son has a 74 that he wants to retro, with, needs new tires, and we need to upgrade while at it. I want to leave the old school look but make it more driveable. |

His handle on here is Yezzi. website is https://www.squarebodysyndicate.com/index.html and a thread on the truck itself can be found here... https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=481551&page=3 And for the record I'm not a stalker... I'm just a huge fan of that truck in particular, and of the steelies/caps look. Oh and welcome to the forum! lots of good info here! Stick around and lets see that truck get built!

Re: Show Me your Trucks with Steel Wheels and Hubcaps
Tried asking via PM but thought I'd put this publicly since I'm betting others are curious as well....
Can you provide suspension related changes made? Wheel & tire sizing? Brand? What brake set-up? For me personally, I'm trying to determine what steel wheels will clear a 'big brake' set-up but seem to be striking out. I've seen the Detroit Steels but not sold on them yet. Researching 16-18" options; not 22's. US Wheel has their RatRod series but again meh.... Just not sold on their look (not very OE appearing). Wheel Vintiques…. Similar. Nobody seems to list technical info regarding what if any aftermarket brake set-ups might clear.

Detroit Coys C33's US wheel US mags and probably others... But they all share the same problem (In my opinion) that the steelie face looks too smooth to appear like a OE steel wheel. While I think it looks cool on some low n slow slammed cars and trucks, especially in the big sizes, it's not the look I'm going for. Now what I have found is that there are some being made in forged aluminum, from the brand Forgeline, that Roadster Shop has been using on lots of their "Survivor Series" cars... and they are PERFECT! 18's, wide and clear big brake kits with ease... BUT... they want $1795.00 PER WHEEL!! https://roadstershop.com/wheel/rs-oe1-wheel/ This kills me, because they have the exact look I'm going for, basically just an enlarged OE steelie, but I really can't bring myself to pay 3,500 for a PAIR of wheels... SO... long story longer... I'm on the hunt as well. And my next move is to contact ET Wheels, based near me in San Leandro, CA and inquire about a set of one off aluminum wheels... I've seen a set they created for Cotati Speed shop and they are pretty darn close to what I'm after. I'm just hoping they're not as crazy expensive as the Forgeline OE-1's

The RS OE-1's by Forgeline are definitely the best visually accurate 'big diameter' looking steelie. But my stuff gets parked outside. Overnight. I can't think of anything I've seen w/those wheels that has a build cost under $100k. And.... I've seen a few of the cars built that use them w/the BS/offset very shallow which yields a wonky looking front set-up (makes the center caps protrude too far out IMHO). My bet is the track width, brake sizing, & ride height/fender-well realestate is the culprit on those. That's also an issue.... Back-spacing. Sure Coys has an alum wheel that's close & for the price, I'd run them. But, the back-spacing doesn't work & has very limited flexibility.
