Locking problem

Just picked up a 68 C10 and I am currently going through the works and seeing what needs fixing and eventually upgraded. On the passenger side door however the lock does not fully engaged when the door is closed however when the door is open the lock functions fine.

Learning slowly but surely. Thanks

Does it lock when you push in on the door while turning the key to lock it?

Use some PB Blaster or similar on the door lock and latch first. You can get to it through the window channel with the window rolled down. You can see the lock & latch if you use a good strong light. If it still doesn't want to cooperate try moving the striker plate out a bit. Be sure and mark around it with a fine felt tip marker first so you can tell how far you have moved it. Only go about 1/16" at a time and don't let it move up or down, just out. It shouldn't take much if that's the problem.

Re: Locking problem

IIRC, there was a recent thread about this. I searched breifly and couldn't find it. I think it had something to do with the internal mechanism of the latch, not sure.

Was about to say LockDoc can help you but he just posted!

Welcome to the forum.
