Old 18" Wheels vs. New 22" Wheels at Top

I really wanted 20's but got a deal on these 22" Boyd Coddington's which match my 66 Nova!

Hey Mike, i was wondering if i would see you here! Truck is looking awesome. Hey Just asking. Looks like you really could use some spacers to get the rear wheels pushed out a little You considered it?

Thanks Tom, I actually added another 1/4" spacer since that pic with the Nova was taken and does look better. The side shot was after spacer was installed but you really can't tell in that pic. Going with a little wider tire here shortly like a 305-40 on rear and that will fill up wheel well even more. Good seeing you here too!

Definitely like the new wheels. What size tire are you running now in the rear, a 265/35? I have 265/35 front 285/40 rear on mine all on 22x9s. The 285/40 really fills up the wheel well. I think a 305/40 would look huge.

Yes I have 265/35 all around. Looking at 285/35 also. Just know I need a little wider tire on back for sure. Really not sure about the taller 40 series tire though.

Here's a good visual on a 265/35 compared to a 285/40. I like the extra sidewall in the rear on mine. I also think 285/35s look pretty good if you don't like the sidewall differential front to rear.

I like to try and keep my tires the same front to rear, so I'd check and see what's available in the tire you're using already. If there's nothing in that tire, then there are only a few options left anyway. I'm running Nankangs. They are a cheaper tire but so far I've been very pleased with them. The quality is very good and the tread pattern is nice and simple. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to run another set. I know a lot of guys are running the Lionhearts as well. There really aren't many options in these sizes. If you're wanting something with a little more solid reputation there are Toyos and Pirellis that have been used with success as well.

Re: Old 18" Wheels vs. New 22" Wheels at Top

I really wanted 20" wheels on my truck, so I am gonna keep my eyes open for a trade out there and will swap them out sooner or later. 22's are just a tad to big for me.

Liking the 22's a little more every day! Maybe a tad bigger tire on rear and I'll be good for a while!
