shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips - LOTS OF PICS

I'm trying to find out how many clips (and what type)I need to get for my 1971 k10 shortbed 4x4. I used to be able to search and find a couple pictures that helped me out but I cant seem to find those posts now. My chassis manual isnt much help either.

Do any of you happen to have some pictures that would help me out?

Thanks for the help!

Re: shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips

Here's what I have:
#1. original lines & clips
#2. 1 clip visible
#3. 2 clips visible
#4. OE color of clips
#5. rear frame clip (can't see very well)

IIRC there are two intermediate frame clips. I'll post a pic of the front one, my rear frame clip in not in the OE location due to electric fuel pump.

Intermediate clip, barely visible way in the back of pic. It holds the brake line & the fuel line.

GMC Paul's sells a set of clips but they are listed for 2wd trucks. Don't know what the difference is, maybe give them a call?

Re: shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips

Thanks guys that helps a lot. So I called inline tube and they said the that their 2wd brake line clip kit is the same for the 4x4. The guy wasn't sure why they list it specifically for the 2wd.

So I bought a kit and found out only 5 clips are actually usable from the 26 pieces the package comes with. So now I'm back to finding used clips..

To possibly help others out in the future, I've taken pictures of where my brake lines are running and where I THINK these brake line clips are supposed to go.

Can anyone confirm that brake line clips are actually where I've highlighted? Am I missing anything?
Red circle = brake line clip
Yellow circle = distribution block

#1: Front driver side - to master cylinder

#2 Front driver side - distribution blocks

#3 Front driver side - to left front wheel

#4 Front crossmember

#5 Front passenger side

#6 Front passenger side - brake line union

#7 Passenger side - near transmission crossmember

#8 Passenger side - near np205 frame mount

#9 Passenger side - near bed mount tower

#10 Passenger side - near rear shock mount

#11 Passenger side - near rear bump stop

#12 Rear axle - cover clip and distribution block

Re: shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips

While digging through my data I found more info (beyond the pics I posted), hopes this helps:

BRAKE & FUEL LINE CLIPS, LOCATION, COLOR & SIZE
fuel line, from front to back, white single; green double; green double; green double (green doubles also hold rear brake line)
brake line - double lines (spiral wrapped) from M/C down to driver's frame rail (runs foreward on rail, then under ) Orange double; orange double
driver's side brake line (from driver's front hose to brass "tee" inside frame rail @ steering box) 1 silver (natural finish) single clip
passenger brake line & rear brake line across front cross member, double black; double black (front, smaller diameter brake line goes on top of rear line)
passenger brake line & rear brake line on passenger frame rail, double black; (front, smaller diameter brake line goes on top of rear line)

Re: shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips

Oh, forgot, all your pics look good, mine did not have a clip for your #8 pic. More pics I found: (same truck before taking apart)

on the first pic the second clip is barely visible to the far left

Re: shortbed 4x4 brake line routing and clips

I want to say this thread and pic’s just made my life a whole lot easier. I tore my truck down many years ago , everything came off.
I bought the new brake line set and was totally lost until I found this thread.

Thank God for the search engine that works.
